Name: Techno: The Gamma Project
Category: Platformer / Platform Shooter File size and type: 4.5 MB .zip file Changes resolution: No Multiplayer: No Download link: YoyoGames WillHostForFood (Mirror) Host-a.net (Mirror) Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac1-uyg3LHU My Website: http://www.zazzle.com/technosuperguy Info: This is a 100% original game I've been working on for several months. I designed all the characters, wrote all the music, made every last sprite, animation, tile, and background, made all the sound effects, voiced all the characters, designed every level, and of course, programmed the engine entirely by myself. When you first play the game it may not seem as though I've accomplished very much after all the time I've spent, but once you stop and realize how long it takes to do everything I've done, you'll understand. I've put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this game, in an effort to make it as smooth, bug-free, and fun as possible. I hope you enjoy it! Techno: The Gamma Project and all material therein (characters, graphics, animations, music, sound effects, voices, and any material not aforementioned) was created by, is property of, and Copyright © TechnoSuperguy. All rights reserved. Extra Information: --The game and help file are compressed together in a 4.48 MB .zip file, so you will need a decompression program like WinZIP to extract the game. You may be able to play the game while it is still in the .zip file, but this is not recommended, since you won't be able to save or load your progress properly. --This game makes heavy use of the "Westminster" font. In order for some in-game text to display as it was intended, you may need to download and install the Westminster font. Story: Two years ago, the government initiated a secret operation codenamed "The Techno Project", and dispatched a team of scientists to a facility known as the Federal Antarctic Technological Base Underground That's Top Secret (or "FATBUTTS", for short). Their mission: To scientifically engineer a bionic "supersoldier" capable of protecting mankind from evil. As a result of The Techno Project, two supersoldiers were created: a robot named Techno Alpha, and a cyborg named Techno Beta. Unfortunately, the two "brothers" never saw eye-to-eye, and eventually went their seperate ways. Techno Alpha lived the secluded life of a loner, while Techno Beta went on to become a hero. Since then, things have been peaceful. But a new villain has suddenly surfaced, and the two bionic supersoldiers will soon cross paths again on their individual missions to stop the evil professor Eugene Poolle from carrying out his plan of world domination, "The Gamma Project"... Features in this Demo: --Perfect slope movement (characters don't "bounce" when moving down slopes) --Certain settings can be changed, to allow the game to run faster on old computers --Two playable characters, each with his own unique abilities and storyline --Two levels --Two boss battles --Original characters, music, sound effects, voice acting, sprites, backgrounds, level tiles, and everything else that's in the game --Platform Shooting --Two basic attacks: the Buzzsaw Somersault and Shock Blasters --Two special attacks: the Green Shockwave and Ultra Transformation --Hovering and Double-jumping --Simple controls --Save / Load system --Game records the amount of points you gain in each level --Seven in-game cutscenes explaining the game's storyline --Cheat code menu --Game can be paused at any time --Character can collect "W-Orbs" to build power for Special Attacks --"Turbo Zones" where your character runs at twice his normal speed and must avoid enemies --Fully functional checkpoints --Health system --Life system --Cool special effects, like glowing laser beams Screenshots (click to enlarge): Title Screen: Techno Beta on his Hoverboard while fighting a boss: Techno Alpha demonstrating the power of his Shock Blasters while in the Federal Antarctic Technological Base Underground That's Top Secret: More Screens (click links to view): Kicking butt as Ultra Techno Beta Dealing serious damage as Ultra Techno Alpha Using the Green Shockwave to blow away two baddies at once Hovering through the forest Jumping through an office complex in FATBUTTSAlpha in a boss battle Slicing against a bad guy with the Buzzsaw Somersault Eluding some enemies Maneuvering through a group of floating springs About to Buzzsaw into an enemy Showing off the Shock Blasters while in Ultra Form Finishing the stage Techno Beta in a conversation with The Chief Techno Alpha meets Mia Character Select screen Known Bugs: --Upon its defeat, the spring-like snake enemy's death animation occasionally loops, causing it to look pretty silly. This is a very minor bug, though, so I haven't spent much time trying to fix it yet. --During the Rino boss battle, Rino's attacks will sometimes be doubled -- for instance, he will inexplicably shoot 4 lasers instead or 2, or launch 8 spikes instead of 4. I'm still working to find the cause of this problem, but it should be fixed by the time I release the next demo. Notes: Techno: TGP has huge levels, a lot of large graphics, and detailed special effects, so gameplay may be laggy on computers with inadequate RAM or Video/Graphics Memory. If you are experiencing lag, you can try changing certain settings to improve gameplay speed. --By default, the Nesteke Forest level uses two layers of scrolling backgrounds, to give a nice effect of depth to the forest. Unfortunately, this can cause the level to lag somewhat on certain computers. To fix the problem, go to the Title Screen, then the Options menu. Highlight the "Background Quality" option, and press Z to cycle through alternate settings. "Double-Layered Background" is the default setting, which utilizes two seperate scrolling backgrounds for the level. "Single-Layer Background" utilizes only one scrolling background for the level, which helps improve gameplay speed. If all else fails, use the "No Background" setting, which turns off the background altogether. NOTE: These settings only affect the Nesteke Forest level. --Though the special effects in this game look cool, they can cause some slowdown in the game. If you notice lag whenever special effects are utilized, you can go to the Title Screen, then the Options menu. Highlight the "Effects" option, and press Z to turn the special effects On or Off. Turning off the effects will make things a bit less eye-appealing, but it may help improve gameplay speed. NOTE: After turning off the effects, you may need to turn off the game and restart it in order for the changes to take full effect. --If nothing else is helping to improve gameplay speed, you can manually resize the game window to a smaller size. I've found that this sometimes helps reduce lag. In Conclusion If you like the game, please drop by my website, TechnoSuperguy Creations, where you can find cool Techno: TGP products and more info on the characters! As previously said, I've spent a lot of time on this game, so I'd appreciate some feedback! I hope you like it! -------------------- |

LOL, thanks for the comment, Jackaroo! Glad you like the game.
How so, Silver? The logs that make up Poolle's cabin match the tree trunks that the Nesteke Forest level is filled with. In fact, the logs and tree trunks are the exact same sprites, just set at different brightness levels. Do you mean they simply don't match with the character sprites? If that's the case, I guess you're right, but I think the log sprites I'm using look better the way than are, instead of being in the same cartoony style as Techno Beta, Blunder, and Poolle. -------------------- |

FATBUTTS!
Woot. Got to say that this was a lot better than the original (no offence). It's been a while since I've seen a green spikey-haired protagonist use a screw attack. The engine was a little too close to Sonic though :S Good Graphics. -------------------- ![]() |

Haha, thanks, Awesome! No offense taken; I've been hoping people would like The Gamma Project a lot more than the first game, since I've put so much more work into this one. Glad you liked it!

I finally got to play it on my own laptop! yay!
Well, I think I found another glitch. (sorry Techno) I don't know how I did it, all I know is that I ran through a checkpoint and it happened. I was Techno Beta, and I was holding down the fire button and running to the right, and I let go of the fire button but he kept firing. I had to press the fire button again to get him to stop. I tried to recreate the problem, but to no avail. Also, the Hover-Bar, or whatever it's called, you might want to make it gradually recharge rather than suddenly being full. But, alas, after all my complaining, it's still freaking awesome! 9/10, only because it's a WIP. ~TH7 -------------------- |

Hmm, that's an odd glitch. I've never experienced that one. I'll add it to the list of bugs to fix (or at least try to fix, since I have no idea what could be causing that problem As for the hover bar, it probably would make more sense if it gradually refilled itself rather than being instantly restored to 100% when Beta touches the ground, but it could also cause some gameplay problems... You're speeding through a level, trying to break your record. On a whim, you decide to Hover across a large area of land, simply because hovering is more fun than running (you know it's true ...Then again, perhaps it WOULD be a good idea to do it that way, since it would teach players the importance of saving their hover energy for when it's needed. Ah well, we'll see what happens. Anyway, glad you like the demo, and thanks for the great rating! This post has been edited by TechnoSuperguy on Sep 27 2009, 12:22 PM -------------------- |

Aha!
You have basically answered how to remedy the problem yourself! Time Attack Mode Only unlockable when you have beaten a level. ~TH7 -------------------- |
