What a disappointment...Mario Kart has been an all time winning game for me until now. Double Dash was as great as it got. I played it for about four hours today at a friends house, and found it to be extremely disappointing. It just had the feel that Nintendo didn't even try. It's an okay game, but honestly it feels like they just threw it together.

You cannot unlock anything anymore unless you're playing solo, so siblings and friends, well...sorry guys. Most of the stuff you can unlock is only unlocked through time trials...wow, really fun guys. Playing against yourself with no weapons but three power-up mushrooms.

The Wii wheel is a plain and simple joke. I used my gamecube controller instead, and found it an alright game, but nothing like it could have been.

All in all...fun, to an extent. I'll still buy and play it, just not as much as I played the others.

What do you guys think of it though? None of my friends liked it either, and they've been playing Mario Kart since the SNES.

Well, I got this yesterday and thought it was good. Not the best, and it feels easier to me than previous instalments(maybe I'm just getting better). I use the GCN controller (I don't like the wheel tongue.gif ) and I'm not a fan of the bikes, mind you doing a wheelie is nice. Although that unlocking thing, I've unlocked most of the things by playing through the 1 player 'Grand Prix's so I don't see what you mean (admittedly I haven't unlocked it all yet, so maybe). The graphics are nice, if not a little underwhelming, but you won't be concentrating on them much. Also don't like the new drift technique, automatically turns blue, then orange with time, should'a kept it the old way, tapping the control stick left and right. Of course if you are using the wheel you'll need to stick with the timed drifts. Finally I like the new tricks element, in which you get a small boost for tricking off small jumps, by flicking the wheel in a direction or tapping the D-pad on the GCN controller. Nice addition.
All in all, it's a good way to tide me over until Brawl.

Verdict:

Fun, although a little sloppy. Still a highly playable game 90%.

Hey, guys. I thought it would be cool to exchange Friend codes. I'm really bored, so I was wondering if anyone would like to play me.

That sounds great. We could make a topic for a game and put our codes on it.

I got so used to the Wii Wheel that I refuse to use anything else.

Its really easy to use once you get the hang of it.

But it IS unresposive at times. I don't care though.
